Pamela Anderson celebrates women - by taking her clothes off

Yesterday for Valentine’s Day Pamela Anderson celebrated by performing two sold out shows at the world famous strip club the Crazy Horse in Paris. Over 500 people came for each show and they each paid $300 to get in.

A quote from Anderson reads, “Though the Crazy Horse specializes in presenting topless dancers, "It's a celebration of women," says Anderson.”It's done very respectfully, very classy, and it's a wonderful show for women as well as for men." "This isn't for money," said Anderson. "It's just for the love of the art, and the Crazy Horse does it best."

Is this just Pamela Anderson’s horrible attempt to get publicity? Is this really her idea of romance and celebrating being a woman? Or is she just low on cash?

Whether this is a publicity stunt or not, I would definitely have to disagree with Pamela. I can view the female body as a work of art, but I guess in the right context. I just don't view a strip club as museum that holds valuable, expensive art. I guess I would have an easier time agreeing with her that "it's just for the love of the art" if it hadn't been held in a world famous strip club.

Pamela contends the whole show was a "celebration of women." I, however, see this as a one-dimensional celebration of women (if a celebration at all). While it might allow her to be freely expressive with her sexuality, it limits her to being seen as a sex object and that alone. It places the audience in a voyeuristic position, something that by definition makes her a subject to be gazed upon and derived pleasure from. Pamela is subject and limited by the audiences' gaze something that I find neither artful nor respectful.

I would definitely say that the human body is a work of art and can be beautiful in a tasteful manner. When thinking about a strip club; desperate, unprofessional, and uncomfortable are words that pop into my head. Art is not perceived in those ways. I feel like art takes intelligence, grace, and unique performance. I also feel that everything that pamela does is a publicity stunt. "celebration of women" would not entitle nudity and women as an sexual object, especially when the average woman does not have pamela's body. She definitely is doing this for money... beautiful art and showing appreciation of women is priceless and should not be considered appropiate to celebrate at a strip club!

Thsi somewhat reminds me of the old flight attendants wearing their hot pants. Although they at least had something covering their bodies. I feel that Pamela has always been seen as a sex object and probably always will be. She has surgeries done to keep her body looking as "good" as it possibliy can. I really wonder if she does it for herself or if she is doing it forothers especially the opposite sex or for that matter gender. She says she sees this as an art...I don't know if I agree with rubbing up against a pole as an art. I believe there is the art of dance and an art nude bodies and even putting them together seems too sexual.

Pamela Anderson takes off her clothes in public for the same reasons as any woman. Either 1) to get attention or 2) to get money. No matter how you twist it, I cannot be convinced stripping is an art, anyone can do it and it does not require talent. I am convinced Pamela Anderson would do anything to take off her clothes, let alone get paid for the stunt.

She did it for the money. I say this because I recall hearing in the news a few weeks ago that only a couple WEEKS after getting married she filed for divorce and was asking for an outrageous amount of alimony. She obviously has lived frivolously with her earnings and this was her easy fix to getting quick cash. Besides, hasn't a large population already seen most of her in the notorious leaked home video? So I'm sure she figures what's another 1000 people? I don't believe she stripped to celebrate women. She certainly didn't have those several breast surgeries for herself! She has been using her body to make money all her career.

Wow...leave it to Pamela! I agree with some of the previous comments, and say that stripping is NOT an art to be appreciated! I would suggest that she is low in money, or she is wanting attention. Maybe this is a wierd way she can "feel love"?!

Why is it that women feel they have to show skin to get attention? I know men are physical, visual beings, but don't they want more than just the body and skin?! I was eating dinner with a friend the other night, when two couples came and sat in the table next to us. It was obvious that they weren't dating yet, as their akward nonverbals showed! Anyway, the girls took off their coats, and they were both wearing spagetti-strap, little tank tops! In the middle of February!!!!!! I was amazed, and found myself asking, "why?!". Why is it that women feel they can't be loved and pursed in relationships if they don't show their bodies off?

We are talking about Pamela here, a woman famous for her giant boobs and sex video with her well-endowed husband. It hardly surprises me that she would partake in such an event and attempt to pull it off as a "celebration of women." Her lifestyle is very unusual compared to that of most women seeing as that she has lived as a sex symbol for years and years. That being said, I'm not shocked by this more and I also wouldn't over-analyze it too much. She is not a good example of a "regular" celebrity woman. If someone more well respected as an actor and person like Jennifer Aniston pulled a stunt like this, then I'd be willing to mull over the implications of it.

Here is what I know; Pam Anderson is a very successful business women, who ever thinks that she did this for the money is dead wrong. She has made a fortune using her body. While I would never want to make my fortune, or any money for that matter, by stripping, or posing nude, or running up and down the beach in a swimming suit, in slow motion, she certainly has done all of the above and to her advantage. I think the strip show was an attention getter and nearly everything she does is to get attention, who gets married in a bikini (twice) and isn't screaming look at me.
I don't see the strip show as a celebration of women nor do I think of her stripping as a work of art. I believe that this is just her way of rationalizing what she does. Why does she feel she has to rationalize her actions if she is so sure that what she is doing is fine? But I do need to add a comment to the men that say they don't care about big fake boobs, really, really, well someone buys all of those playboy magazines she is in and her calendars and it sure isn't my grandma.

I'm not sure if she's low on cash or not, but I don't see how it's a celebration of women. If anything it's degrating women. Yes I do believe that it is a way for Pamela to get the publicity she wants.

Perhaps, we all celebrate being a woman differently? But I certainly don’t see Pamela’s celebration as a very meaningful one. I think it just reinforces ridiculous stereotypes about women. I think stripping is extremely degrading to women. Putting yourself out there to simply appeal to men’s lustful desires is certainly not celebration what I think it means to be a woman. I think Ms. Anderson was suffering from neglect, low self-esteem, low morals, and a low bank balance. This was surely a publicity stunt.
