How to Navigate Through the First Date...
Is it just me or does MSN.com publish way too many articles about relationship advice?!? I feel like it is everytime I log onto my email that I am ambused with someway to better my romantic relationships. This one is kind of funny just because it is a lot of what we talked about on valentines day class period and the things that you should do (in a nice bulleted list). My favorite is "NO texting, call the next day, but only 2 days later max." I have decided that "the rules" can be manipulated and followed to different extents depending on what area of the country you live in and your generation. For example, people my parents age would never dream of texting someone they were dating, only because that is not how they did things when they were growing up, but in today's society that would be completly aceeptable for some. Something interesting to think about. Take a look.

I think times are changing. In 10 years what we think is unacceptable may be completely acceptable for dating. When my grandparents talk about dating it was a whole different game. They asked each other out face to face every time. The man was always expected to get the door for the woman. The man would escort the woman to the door at the end of the night. We’re growing up in an age of technological advancements. Email is the new phone. Texting is the new email. People use technology more to talk to people rather than face to face. Today, we have internet dating sites. We find love by logging into websites! Our grandparents could have never imagined this! I certainly would not be surprised if in 10 years people were completely fine with getting date offers via a text. It’s a sign of the time. I think dating rules are also regionally rules. As we discussed in class, holding doors for the woman is a Southern/Midwestern trait. Other parts of the country do not expect this behavior.
