A new study was found that there may be a link between the diet of a pregnant female and the gender of her fetus.
This information was very interesting to me. To me it refutes basic biology in that sex is determined by either an x or a y chromosome from the sperm.
Take a look and leave comments if you would like! Thanks!!

I think that if you read the article a little more closely you will see that the diet does not really determine the sex of a child, but that what it does is let the males become more able to survive. Evidently boys take a little more protein and other "stuff" to get going or survive from the get go. This is what the difference in the diet does is that it enables the males to survive, where as they may not have before. So I think it is still safe to say that it's the x's and y's from daddy that still make the difference.
On a more lighter note, I am one of four children and each of my siblings favorite foods correspond pretty closely with what my mother "craved" during her pregnancy.
I thought it is interesting and would be nice to share!
I think that part of the reason that males babies require more energy than the female babies is that the female babies use that same hormones as the female mother, while the male would require more energy to create the needed hormones that the mother would not normally produce. The diet of teh mother may also be affected by the activity of the fetus before birth. I know several women who have given birth and some have had babies that moved and kicked a lot while others did not.
Kind of on the same lines, there is some research that has linked gestational diabetes with obeseity of the child later in life. While the diet may have an effect on whether the male fetus lives or dies, the diet could also have a big effect of the health of the individual as an adult. This just goes to show that a woman's diet during gestation is very, very important for more than one reason.
Interesting article. I agree with cubbies. The biology of the baby is not determined by what the mother eats, but what she eats may aid in development of the little guy.
However, I've never heard of this before! Who knew? Thanks for the article jellyphish.
